BUTTOCK IMPLANT RECOVERY

September 22nd, 2016 admin

During your buttock augmentation recovery period, you must take enough rest to heal properly and quickly. Most patients take around two weeks off work.BUTTOCK IMPLANT RECOVERY

Most patients are told to remain continuously in bed for the first 24 hours after the procedure. You can take limited walks from the second day; however, you should not sit down or sleep on your back for at least two weeks. When your plastic surgeon finally allows you to sit down, you must sit on a soft cushion for at two months.

Even though many patients recover enough within a week to resume work, it is recommended that you allow your buttocks at least nine days to heal before returning to work. If you have a desk job and are required to sit down for a longer period, or if your job involves strenuous activities, you may feel uncomfortable. Putting pressure on your buttocks for the first few weeks after the procedure is not a good option if you are looking for proper and fast recovery.

After the surgery, your plastic surgeon will assess your recovery and overall health, and if satisfied, he or she will let you go home after a few hours. You will receive detailed advice on how to care for your augmented buttocks. You may also get prescriptions for certain medications that you should take according to your surgeon’s instructions.

When you finally start to sit on your buttocks with support, make sure not to sit down for a long period of time because this increases the risk for dislocation of the implant. However, from the second month onward, you can sit down like a normal person.

If you want to recover properly, it is important to avoid driving without a cushion for the first two months after the buttock augmentation procedure. If it is a short drive, you can place a thick towel under your knees and place another towel under your rear. This will ensure that you can sit down and drive the car with comfort.

During the recovery period, you may also find it hard to bend over. Make sure to keep your necessary things handy and within reach. You may also need someone to drive you home from the hospital and accompany you at home for the first two days.

Instead of sitting down, it is recommended that you lie on your stomach for the first few days.Even eating, drinking, sleeping, and reading should be done in this position, which can be a very uncomfortable experience. If you see or feel anything abnormal or think that there is something hindering your recovery process, you should contact your surgeon immediately.

BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT PROJECTION

September 15th, 2016 admin

Brazilian butt lift projection is defined as how much your buttocks are going to stick out and how big they are going to get after any buttock enhancement infection-post-operatingprocedure. People get focused on the amount of fat that is injected into the buttock, and tend to think that to get a bigger behind, you just have to inject more fat. Although theoretically this is true, in practice it is more complicated than that. There are many factors that determine how big your buttock is going to get, including your gluteal muscle, your preoperative projection, your buttock shape, your bone anatomy, how tight your buttock is, and the amount of fat you have, among others.

The most important factor in how large your butt is going to get is actually the skin tone. What is the skin tone? The skin tone is how tight your skin is before surgery. You will notice that there are a variety of skin tones in any given patient. The younger you are, the tighter your buttocks are. If your buttock is very tight and your skin is very tight, you are not going to get as much projection as somebody with a looser skin tone.

Why is this? Essentially, think about your skin as a rubber band. The skin is an organ that has elasticity, and it will stretch to some extent, but does not stretch indefinitely. In other words, once you start putting fat in the buttock area, the skin will start stretching, but it is going to reach a critical point where it does not stretch anymore. It does not matter if you have 1 liter of fat if your buttock skin is not going to accommodate that much fat. If your buttocks do not stretch to accommodate these large amounts of fat, your projection will never reach the level that you anticipate.

Let’s say, for example, that your buttock is extremely tight.. You put fat in and the buttock is going to start expanding. Depending on your anatomy, you might be able to inject 700 cc. In other patients, you might be able to inject 800 cc. In other words, that number that you have on your mind—what everybody wants, to have 1,000 cc of fat in each buttock—is not possible in every single patient. As a matter of fact, you can have a bigger behind with only 800 cc of fat if your buttock skin stretches significantly, because the skin accommodates the fat much better than if you have a very tight buttock. Understanding these factors in terms of the skin of your buttocks will help you have realistic expectations about how big your buttocks are going to get after surgery.

FAT NECROSIS AFTER FAT INJECTION

September 8th, 2016 admin

Fat transfer has become a very common procedure to surgically enhance any part of the body, but you need to understand that even though fat is useful to augment parts of the body it does not behave like an implant.infection-post-operatingFor example, if you put in a breast implant, you can rest assured that the volume is not going to change significantly over time, unless you get soft tissue atrophy secondary to the implant interactions with the surrounding tissue. However, fat is very different than a static implant. Fat is a dynamic implant. This means that the fat is alive, and augmenting any part of the body with fat can be unpredictable if the proper techniques are not used.

One of the complications that can occur from the fat transfer procedure is fat necrosis, which means that some of the fat that was injected dies. During a fat transfer, some of the fat may get reabsorbed, causing absolutely no consequences except that the area gets smaller. However, in certain circumstances, the fat actually dies and forms a layer of dead fat and scar formation.Typically, this occurs when high-volume fat transfers are performed, particularly in the buttock area. So, you need to be careful what you wish for. People want to have as much fat injected into their buttocks as they can, thinking that all the fat will survive and no complications will occur. The more fat you put in your buttocks, the more complications you may have. The more fat you put in the buttocks, the higher the chance that some areas in the buttocks will develop fat necrosis.

Fat necrosis can cause lumps and bumps, areas of hardening, and pain in the specific area. Most of the time, this does not cause any issues, but if the patient is having pain, there are certain things that we can do, like injections of Kenalog, which is an anti-inflammatory agent. Rarely, a revision surgery needs to be performed to actually remove the area of fat necrosis.

Fat necrosis is not as uncommon as most people think. As a matter of fact, most fat necrosis is asymptomatic, and this is the reason that most people do not even talk about it. If you develop an area of hardening, even if it is not causing any issue, most likely, you have fat necrosis. The treatment is to do absolutely nothing unless the area becomes symptomatic. If it becomes symptomatic, I will offer you medical or surgical intervention.

INFECTION AND INFLAMMATION AFTER LIPOSUCTION

September 1st, 2016 admin

As with any other surgical procedure, there are risks of complications after liposuction. infection-post-operatingTherefore, it is important for you to know the types of potential complications that may occur. Before you decide to go under the knife, make sure to evaluate the risks and benefits of the procedure. The most common complications after liposuction are infection and inflammation at the surgical site.

Remember, undergoing liposuction ought to be your personal decision. Do not do it because someone else wants it, and make sure not to take inspiration from friends who had liposuction. Also, steer clear of doctors who try to sell you their liposuction procedures. Instead, focus on your personal aspirations, goals, and self-esteem.

You should think about liposuction only if you feel uncomfortable with your appearance and your looks are negatively affecting your self-confidence. Remember, sometimes the risks and complications of this procedure outweigh the benefits; therefore, it is always best to make an informed and judicious decision.Let’s discuss the potential risks of infection and inflammation after liposuction.

Infection

Infections have the potential to occur after any surgery, and liposuction is no exception. Your plastic surgeon may give you an antibiotic before and after liposuction to prevent infection. It is very important for you to keep the surgical site clean and to take the medications on time. This can prevent infection in the wound to some degree, but there is still a chance of it.

Infections can sometimes be extremely dangerous and life-threatening. For example, serious infections like necrotizing fasciitis involve bacteria that feed on tissues. Then there is the risk of toxic shock syndrome, which is very serious and mostly linked with surgeries. To treat serious infections, chances are your surgeon will prescribe you antibiotics..

The factors that increase the risk of post-liposuction infections include:

  • Insufficient cleaning
  • Lack of disinfectant
  • Lack of sterilization
  • Use of contaminated surgical tools
  • Unhygienic healthcare providers
  • Lack of usage of aseptic methods
  • Lack of infection control protocols

Swelling and Inflammation

Though swelling is a normal medical condition that often follows any surgical procedure, at times it can be severe and trigger further complications. In the case of liposuction, swelling may continue for a few weeks or even months after the procedure. Right after liposuction, you may experience soreness at the surgical site. That is absolutely normal and can be extreme for the first few days after the surgery, but will gradually diminish over four to eight weeks.

Inflammation after liposuction is a result of injury to the surrounding tissue caused by the liposuction cannula. Moreover, blood from the surgical site and pieces of fat that were dislodged during liposuction stay under the skin, triggering inflammation, which is mostly accompanied by pain.

To help you overcome inflammation and soreness, your plastic surgeon will recommend a corset. The corset is effective in decreasing the swelling and improving your contours.

How the fat is processed before injecting into the buttocks during a Brazilian butt lift

June 22nd, 2016 admin

When the Brazilian buttock augmentation is performed, fat is removed with liposuction, and this fat needs to be collected in sterile canisters prior to injection. The literature shows different ways shutterstock_124289614of harvesting the fat. Some surgeons will irrigate the fat, others use a centrifuge, etc. The bottom line is that the less you do to the fat, the better the outcomes.

When I perform this procedure, once the fat is collected in the sterile canisters, it is first decanted; in other words, most of the fluid will settle at the bottom of the canister, and this fluid can be removed by opening a valve in the canister. However, this is not enough. I have been able to determine that after decanting you still have about 40-50% of fluid mixed with the fat, and this is not good. If I inject this fat thinking that most of the fluid is gone, your results will be decreased significantly in the first two to three weeks as the body reabsorbs the fluid and the swelling goes down.

So, what do I do? Well, the best way is to use a strainer. This strainer is covered with a specialized membrane that allows the fluid to be removed while the fat stays on the top. This produces fat that is completely concentrated and pure, without any fluid that would jeopardize your outcome. This fat is then placed in syringes and injected into the areas of deficiency. One of the most critical parts of performing this procedure is technique; the technique of the surgeon is going to determine the long-term results. Anybody can harvest fat, anybody can put fat in the buttocks, but if the surgeon does not follow a strict protocol, it will jeopardize the results and ultimately you are not going to be a happy patient. Understanding the process of fat processing is crucial for a successful surgery; the best way of doing it is by processing the fat in such a way that only highly concentrated fat lobules are injected in the area that requires enhancement.
