Do I have enough fat for a butt augmentation with fat?

Do I have enough fat for a butt augmentation with fat?

Introduction

Are you a woman who has smaller or flatter buttocks and desire to have a more projected, shapelier, and curvaceous behind? The good news for you is that you can now add projection, shape, and curves to your backside with a plastic surgery procedure called buttock augmentation with fat. If you are reading this, chances are you have already been researching as to how butt augmentation with fat works. Many women wonder as to whether they have enough excess fat in their body to qualify for the fat transfer surgery.

If you don’t know how fat transfer works, it all starts with liposuction of your body areas where excess fat deposits are available. The typical target areas include the abdomen, sides, love handles, thighs, and upper back. The fat is then purified and injected into the buttocks. If you want to know if you have enough fat for a butt augmentation with fat transfer, then you should first understand what the surgery involves.

How buttock augmentation with fat works

Butt augmentation with fat is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the US. It has been developed to give your buttocks projection and shape. This procedure uses the excess fat available in your body to deliver you the results. What this means is that if you want to be a good candidate for this procedure, you need to have enough excess fat in your body.

To get better outcomes with this surgery, be sure to choose only an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon. The surgeon will tell you whether you are a good candidate for the operation during the pre-operative consultation. During the consultation, he will check your butt, analyze your goals and expectations, identify the fat donor sites in your body, and assess your health. If you meet the criteria set for the surgery and have enough fat in your body, you may be a good candidate for the procedure.

Butt augmentation with fat is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthesia. During the surgery, the surgeon will create tiny incisions on the fat donor areas and then use liposuction to remove the excess fat from those areas. The incisions are then sutured and closed. The doctor will then process the fat in a centrifuge so that it is purified. In the last step, the surgeon will inject the fat into your butt with a special needle and without placing incisions on your butt. As a result of the fat injected into your backside, your booty will gain projection and shape. Your overall body will look curvaceous as well.

Do I have enough fat to under buttock augmentation with fat transfer?

Keep in mind that the volume of fat required to enhance your butt differs from patient to patient, depending on your BMI, body outline, and aesthetic goals and expectations. However, generally, a minimum of 500 ccs of fat is required to be injected in each butt so that the buttocks can get projection and shape. In most cases, patients get around 700-800ccs of fat injected in each butt to get noticeable projection. If your BMI is at least 22, it means there is enough excess fat in your body to get satisfactory outcomes.

In any case, the exact amount of fat needed to enhance your buttocks cannot be determined without an in-person consultation with the plastic surgeon. How much fat you would require for the surgery depends on the patient’s unique body outline and definition, the amount of projection and shape desired by the patient, and the surgeon’s expert judgment. In other words, we can say that there isn’t a standard when it comes to the volume of fat required to deliver you the desired results. The procedure is customized to the needs and requirements of each patient.

In most cases, women who get a high volume of fat injected into their buttocks get better outcomes with the surgery. This occurs because when the fat is extracted from the fat donor areas in your body like the abdomen and sides, it is carefully strained and then readied for transfer to the buttocks. Once the fat is injected into your backside, around 20 to 25 percent of the fat disappears because your body reabsorbs it. In such a scenario when a high volume of fat is injected into the buttocks, you will get the desired results after your body reabsorbs the specific fat volume.

Fortunately, certain ways can ensure maximum retention of the fat in your buttocks after the fat injection. This has to do both with your surgeon and yourself. For example, if the plastic surgeon is careful and performs the surgery by following the highest standards, the fat survival rate will be maximal. If the fat is properly extracted without damaging or killing more of the fat cells, and if the fat processing and fat grafting are done attentively, then the fat survival rate will be higher.

Furthermore, the patient must be prudent during the recovery period and avoid any pressure or strain to the buttocks because the fat cells are delicate for many weeks after the surgery and can easily be damaged or killed. It can take a minimum of two weeks for the fat cells to be vascularized and more time to nurture and become stronger to withstand pressure and strain. For two or three weeks after the surgery, do not sit and do not sleep or lie down on your back. Instead, you can sleep and lie down on your side and abdomen. Even when you resume sitting, you must keep a soft cushion under your buttocks and a rolled towel under your hamstring muscles so that the pressure to the buttocks is avoided.

Also, you need to avoid strenuous activities like exercises, weight lifting, and swimming, etc. for at least six weeks after the procedure. These activities can burn the fat in your buttocks when performed during the recovery period.

The leading problem with fat transfer to the buttocks is that you need to allow enough time for the fat to stay in the areas where it has been injected. To keep the fat from scattering within your body and to prevent your body from reabsorbing the fat, the surgeon must inject the fat carefully and meticulously. When the fat cells are injected in varying layers and locations, the fat survival rate will be higher.

Are you too thin for butt augmentation with fat?

Fat transfer surgery involves removal of the excess fat from different areas of your body and injecting the fat into your buttocks. Many patients who want to get the surgery are thin and wonder whether they are too thin to have enough fat in the body to qualify for fat transfer surgery. If you are too skinny, chances are you may not have enough excess fat in your body to achieve better and noticeable results. Your concerns are reasonable; however, the good news is that many thin patients even qualify for the surgery and get good results.

If you are thin but have some excess fat in your body areas, then you may be a good candidate for the procedure. However, it is impossible to tell without examining your body for the fat donor areas to tell if you can get good results with the procedure. Keep in mind that about 50 percent of the projection and shape comes with liposuction of the areas surrounding your buttocks instead of injecting of the fat into your booty. Your areas around your butt, such as the abdomen, sides, flanks, upper back, and thighs, frame your booty both from the side and back views. When these areas are contoured through liposuction, it will naturally make your buttocks more prominent.

If the plastic surgeon finds that you are too skinny for fat transfer, he may ask you to gain some weight before getting the surgery. If you can gain even just a few pounds before the surgery, you may be a good candidate for the procedure. However, your weight gain needs to be stable before you go under the knife. Unstable weight can affect the final results.

Conclusion

Buttock augmentation with fat uses the unwanted, excess fat available in the localized areas of your body to add projection, shape, and curves to your backside. During the surgery, the plastic surgeon removes the excess fat from the fat donor areas through liposuction and then injects it into your buttocks after purification of the fat cells. Many patients wonder as to whether they have a sufficient amount of fat available in the body to be a good candidate for the surgery. In this article, I have answered this question in detail. For a detailed assessment of the fat volume you need to get good results, you should consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
