How to avoid the death of fat cells after butt augmentation with fat

How to avoid the death of fat cells after butt augmentation with fat

Introduction

Females are incredibly conscious when it comes to the aesthetic features of the butt. Cosmetic flaws and shortcomings in the buttocks can affect the self-esteem of women. To appear aesthetically welcoming, curvaceous, and sensual, you need to have shapelier, projected, fuller, and smooth buttocks. If your buttocks lack projection and shape and the condition is affecting your self-esteem and quality of life, you may consider getting buttock augmentation with fat.

Buttock augmentation with fat is a common and effective plastic surgery procedure that uses the extra fat existing your body to enhance your buttocks. After the surgery, your butt will look fuller, shapelier, and projected. Despite being effective, there is no guarantee that the results of the operation will remain with you forever. Specific problems can happen that can affect the sustainability and effectiveness of the results. Among the issues that can occur is the death of the fat cells injected into your butt.

What happens when the fat cells die?

Buttock augmentation with fat is a major plastic surgery procedure that involves the use of liposuction to remove the surplus fat from different parts of your body. What this means is that you need to have extra, unsolicited fat in your body to qualify for the surgery. This procedure is recommended for patients who want to add mild projection, fullness, and more shape to their backside. It is not for you if you want to get large buttocks.

During the surgery, the doctor will make tiny incisions on the fat donor sites and then use liposuction to remove the excess fat from those areas. After removing enough fat from each fat donor area, the surgeon will suture and close the incisions. In the next step, he will process and purify the fat by spinning it at high speed in a centrifuge. The purified fat is then prudently injected into each butt so that the desired results are achieved.

Now that you know what the surgery involves, you can understand what will happen when the fat cells die. The fat cells injected into your booty are extremely fragile during the first few weeks. The fat cells need blood supply to nurture, grow, and become stronger. If the fat cells die, it will cause the achieved results to reverse. Depending on the quantity of the dead fat cells, your butt may lose some projection or become entirely flat as they were before the surgery.

Fortunately, there are certain ways to avoid the death of the fat cells and ensure the longevity of the achieved results. However, keep in mind that no matter how excellently the surgery has been performed, there is always a chance that your body may reabsorb about 25-30 percent of the fat injected into your booty. If this happens, your butt will lose some projection. The surgeon can avoid loss of more projection by injecting 25-30 percent more than the required amount of fat into your butt so that even if the butt shrinks, it won’t make a difference. However, if you are not happy about the projection lost due to fat reabsorption by your body, then you may consider getting touch-up fat injections to make up for the lost projection of the buttocks.

Below I will explain what you can do to avoid the death of the fat cells, except for the amount of fat that your body may reabsorb.

– Choose a board-certified, experienced plastic surgeon

The first and most important thing that you must do to prevent the death of the fat cells is to choose your plastic surgeon carefully. The surgery’s success and the sustainability of the achieved results are in the hands of your plastic surgeon to a greater extent. Make sure to select only a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in fat transfer to the buttocks. In case the surgeon is inexperienced and does not follow the standards and protocols when extracting, processing, and grafting the fat, the fat cells may die.

The steps of fat removal from the body, processing of the fat, and fat grafting will determine whether the fat cells will die. For example, if the fat is not extracted carefully, most of the fat cells will be damaged and will disappear after injecting them into the buttocks. Likewise, if the fat grafting is done carelessly, the fat cells may die and the results will not transpire. To avoid the death of the fat cells, these steps must be implemented prudently and with extreme care.

– Make sure you are a good candidate for the surgery

Secondly, it is essential to ensure that you are a good candidate for buttock augmentation with fat. If you are not a good candidate, there is a risk the results may not sustain due to the death of the fat cells. To be a good candidate, you must be in good health, have enough fat in your body to get the desired results, have realistic goals, be a non-smoker or be ready to stop smoking, and have a stable weight and good skin quality.

For example, if your weight is not stable and you experience weight loss after the surgery, it can cause the fat cells to liquefy and the results to be lost. The plastic surgeon will assess your candidacy for the operation during the pre-operative consultation. A good surgeon will always tell you to avoid the surgery or defer your plan to get the surgery for some time if there is a risk that the fat cells may die.

– Avoid sitting and sleeping on your back for two weeks after the surgery

Another critical and effective way to avoid the death of the fat cells injected into your butt during the fat grafting procedure is that you must avoid sitting and sleeping on your back for two weeks following the operation. The fat cells are extremely delicate and easily die due to the exertion of force, strain, and pressure on the buttocks until they get blood supply.

The fat cells need at least two weeks to be vascularized, after which they will become stronger, grow, and expand. During the first two weeks after the procedure, you must avoid sitting and sleeping on your back because it can lead to the death of the fat cells, which will in turn cause the achieved results to reverse. Instead of sleeping on your back, you should sleep on your side or tummy for the first two weeks. After that, you may resume sleeping on your back but do not do so for extended hours.

Even when you resume sitting two weeks after the surgery, do place a soft cushion under your buttocks and a rolled towel under your hamstring muscle. Doing so will prevent the applications of pressure and strain to your buttocks.

–    Avoid strenuous activities for six weeks after the surgery

Next, you must avoid strenuous activities for six weeks following the operation. Physically demanding activities that can lead to the death of the fat cells including jogging, exercises, weight lifting, jumping, and doing household chores like laundry. These activities not only apply pressure to the butt and affect the fat cells but can also trigger fat burning that can lead to the death of the fat cells in your buttocks. After six weeks, you can gradually resume physically demanding activities because the fat cells will become stronger and resist death.

–    Avoid massive weight loss

One of the main advice for patients who get buttock augmentation with fat is that they must avoid massive weight loss after the surgery. The fat injected into your buttocks behaves in the same way as the fat in other areas of your body. Weight loss will affect them in the same way as it affects the fat in other parts of your body. When you experience massive and continuous weight loss, it can kill and liquefy the fat cells because your body will burn the fat. You must eat a balanced diet and keep a check on your weight forever after the procedure. Doing so will prevent the death of the fat cells and increase the sustainability of the achieved aesthetic improvements in your booty.

Conclusion

Buttock augmentation with fat transfer is recommended for patients with buttocks that lack projection and shape. This procedure can make your butt shapelier and add projection to them by using the extra fat available in your body. During the operation, the surgeon will use liposuction to extract the excess fat from the different areas of your body like the abdomen, sides, thighs, and upper back and inject the fat into your buttocks. The surgery is effective, but it is not free of problems. One issue that may arise after the operation is the death of the fat cells, which can lead to loss of the achieved outcomes. In this article, I have discussed as to how your butt will be affected if the fat cells die and what you can do to avoid the death of the fat cells.
