The best buttock augmentation procedure for slender patients
Many slender patients who want to augment their buttocks with plastic surgery often wonder what the best butt augmentation option for them is. This is a common and important question that many plastic surgeons get to hear. Keep in mind that there are two options to augment the buttocks: via fat transfer and implants. Fat transfer involves the use of the excess fat in your body fat to augment the buttocks, whereas butt implant surgery involves putting artificial implants into the buttocks.
What is the best buttock augmentation procedure for you as a slender patient depends on the aesthetic flaws in your buttocks, your aesthetic goals, and whether you have enough excess fat in your body areas. During the pre-operative consultation, the plastic surgeon will examine your buttocks and other body areas. He will also measure your butt dimensions and ask you as to what type of aesthetic improvements you want to achieve. Based on the findings, the surgeon will recommend you either fat transfer surgery or butt implant surgery.
Can slender patients get fat transfer to the buttocks?
Ideally, you need to have excess fat in your body to be a good candidate for fat transfer. This procedure is recommended for women who have buttocks that lack projection and are poorly shaped. It can add mild projection to your backside and make your buttocks shapelier. This procedure is not best for patients who desire to have bigger buttocks.
The plastic surgeon will examine your buttocks and the fat donor sites in your body, in addition to asking you about your expectations and goals. Based on the findings, the doctor will then tell you whether you are a good candidate for fat transfer.
Slender patients who want to undergo fat transfer surgery often get surprised when they are told that they qualify for the procedure. Keep in mind that fat transfer surgery does not require you to have a huge amount of excess fat in your body. Many slender patients do have enough body fat to qualify for the procedure. However, if you are too slender and the surgeon thinks that the required amount of excess fat is not available in your body, then you may be recommended to get implants instead.
Fat transfer surgery, which is also known as the Brazilian butt lift, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures performed in the US. This surgery not only enhances your buttocks but also improves your overall body outline by removing any stubborn fat pockets from the localized areas of your body like the abdomen, sides, and love handles.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthesia. The plastic surgeon will perform liposuction on the fat donor sites identified during the consultation. Liposuction of these areas will help collect the required amount of fat for transfer to your buttocks, besides contouring these localized areas.
After removing the fat, the plastic surgeon will treat it in a centrifuge so that it can be processed and purified. During this step, the plastic surgeon will remove the impurities and fluids and blood from the fat collection. The fat will be purified, and the surgeon will then carefully inject it into the buttocks by using tiny needles. The good news is that during this step, the plastic surgeon can tailor the results to your needs and requirements.
The volume of fat that needs to be injected into your buttocks depends on the shape and projection you desire to achieve. Usually, 500cc of fat is injected into each butt. With this amount of fat, you can achieve significant improvements. But most patients have enough body fat to get 800cc of fat injection in each butt.
The plastic surgeon should take into account your BMI during the pre-operative consultation to decide whether the surgery can deliver you significant results. If your BMI is below 22, it means you are too slender to get good results with fat transfer.
Butt implant surgery for skinny patients
Butt implant surgery is often recommended for slender patients who lack the required amount of excess body fat to qualify for fat transfer. If your BMI is lower than 22, the doctor may tell you to get implants instead of fat transfer.
Butt implant surgery is also a very popular procedure because it delivers permanent results in most cases. Butt implants are artificial objects made of semi-solid silicone material that is highly durable. It does not rupture or leak like breast implants. One of the most important aspects of slender patients undergoing butt implant surgery has to do with the size of the implant.
Butt implants come in various size options. The plastic surgeon will examine your buttocks, know your goals, and assess your overall health before telling you what size of butt implant is best for you and can deliver you the desired improvements. A good plastic surgeon will also take measurements of your butt dimensions, height, and weight before telling you about the implant size suitable for you.
Keep in mind that if you are a slender woman, a large implant will not suit your body outline. Ideally, the implant must fit properly in your buttocks and accentuate your height, weight, and other physical features. The goal here is to achieve harmony between your body areas so that the results can look natural and normal. Using a large implant that does not suit your body will make your buttocks appear abnormal. Petite and slender patients are often told to get medium or small implants.
Also, keep in mind that implants will make your buttocks look fuller and bigger, unlike fat transfer that adds mild projection and shape to your backside. No matter how well the implant size is chosen and how experienced your plastic surgeon is, the results may not look completely natural. On the other hand, the results of fat transfer look entirely natural because it uses your own body fat instead of foreign objects to enhance your booty. Furthermore, butt implant surgery is highly invasive and risky because it involves incisions on your buttocks. Fat transfer does not require incisions on the buttocks and is relatively less risky.
Butt implant surgery is performed under general anesthesia. A board-certified anesthesiologist will administer you the anesthesia, after which the plastic surgeon will start the operation by making incisions on your buttocks. The doctor will then insert the pre-selected implants through those incisions and place them in the pocket created under, within, or over the gluteal muscle. The incisions are then sutured and closed.
The recovery process for both fat transfer surgery and butt implant surgery is almost the same; however, the patient may feel some discomforts and pain. Since butt implant surgery involves incisions, the buttocks will swell and be bruised after the procedure. There are also more risks associated with this surgery than the fat transfer procedure.
Whether you get implants or fat transfer, you must go through a complete recovery process in any case. The primary recovery period for both procedures is two weeks. Full recovery can take up to six weeks.
To achieve the desired improvements in your buttocks, you must follow the surgeon’s instructions and be careful during the recovery. Patients are advised to avoid sleeping on their backside and sitting for two weeks. Also, do not engage in physical activities for six weeks after the surgery. Instead, take sufficient rest so that your body can heal properly. Also, the surgeon will advise you to wear compression garments after the procedure for many weeks. Do not ignore this advice.
As you heal, you will notice improvements in your buttock size and shape. The post-operative swelling will gradually disappear and the results will become prominent. When the results transpire, your buttocks will appear fuller, projected, and aesthetically welcoming. As a result, your overall body outline will also improve.
Many slender patients assume they will not qualify for buttock augmentation since they might be lacking enough body fat. The fact is that slim patients can also be eligible for buttock augmentation. Which type of buttock augmentation is best for slender patients depends on many factors that have been discussed above. The plastic surgeon will examine your buttocks and the fat donor sites, besides taking your BMI and aesthetic goals into account to tell you if you are a good candidate for fat transfer or implants. In this article, I have explained the circumstances under which you may qualify for one or both of these procedures as a slender patient.
