Butt augmentation with silicone implants is a fast and modern method to get the butt of your dreams in a matter of hours. The procedure is often performed on patients under general anesthesia and lasts no longer than two hours when performed as a stand-alone procedure.
Before scheduling the procedure, patients have to go to a pre-operative consultation with the plastic surgeon. During this meeting, important aspects of the procedure will be discussed and the patient’s candidacy will also be evaluated. Moreover, the pre-operative consultation is a good time for patients to ask questions about the surgery. A frequently asked question that we hear a lot is when it is possible to get back to work after butt augmentation.
As you probably know already, butt implant surgery requires a recovery period, just like any other surgery. During the recovery period, the patient needs to take things slowly and get a lot of rest. This means that most patients can’t work during the recovery period.
For most patients, the recovery period after butt augmentation with implants is no longer than two weeks. After these two weeks, the patients can resume work, but only if their job responsibilities don’t entail intense physical efforts. Moreover, if the job requires standing up for extended periods of time, maybe taking another week off from work might be a good idea.
To understand when it is possible to get back to work after butt augmentation, you should know that after this procedure, the patient will be confronted with a certain level of pain, discomfort, swelling, and bruising. These normally occur after plastic surgery, so there is nothing to be worried about. But more importantly, patients are not allowed to sit or lie on the buttocks directly for no less than three weeks. This means that if you have an office job that requires you to sit in front of a computer for eight hours a day, you will need to use a pillow under the thighs when sitting down if you return to work sooner than three weeks post-op. Sitting in the same position for extended periods of time can be uncomfortable, so make sure you can take short breaks from time to time, at least during the first few days after returning to work.
Of course, there are patients who take longer to get back to work and patients who can resume working within days after the procedure. If you can work from home, you can get back to your daily routine within the first three or four days after the procedure or as soon as your body recovers from the trauma and the discomfort lessens. Returning to work after butt implant surgery depends from patient to patient, so make sure to discuss this with the plastic surgeon during the pre-operative consultation.
